Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will look those up.
I should clarify that I'd like this music to subtley promote the right messages which might help a youngish unbaptised publisher who lives at home with Mum and Dad use his mind to set himself free. So any very subversive/heavy/dark/"demonic" stuff is obviously out, as is obvious promotion of "loose" morals. I guess you guys know what I'm getting at...
Sublte and thought provoking.

Do any of you have recommendations of music which might be good for a born-in to hear? Something which promotes open-mindedness or similar, and is not too blunt so as to be viewed as completely anti.
He particularly likes rock and electronic, but has a fairly varied taste. Thanks. -

Today at the Watchtower..........
by oneairhead intoday at the watchtower on young ones, i wrote a note in the margin during the study.
it was on the paragraph that said something to the affect of, how sad it would be for young ones to loose out so close to the end.
" i wrote "the carrot.

Sounds positive, oneairhead. Well done.
Keep calm, assure her of your love and devotion to her, and go slow, leaving her to make conclusions. -

It takes courage to enjoy it.
by slimboyfat inas someone wise once said, it can sometimes take more courage to give in to our desires than to resist.
i feel this is especially true for those who have been jehovah's witnesses, but who have managed to break free from the mental tyranny of so many needless watchtower prohibitions.
how many of us had a warped or in some sense stunted adolescence because of the mixed up views of sex the watchtower instilled in us?

OK, let me explain....
by dawg inso, the last few threads i've written have been about telling your families and friends how you feel; many of you have given me the reasons you don't speak out to your families, but i want to tell you the main reason you should.
please let me explain.... .
i keep on stressing this point because how it makes you feel, i'm telling you all, that for over 19 years, i let information about my thoughts out slowly, then the tipping point... at my uncle's funeral 2 february's ago, while listening to my family pontificate at dinner about who so and so is pioneering and the like, it hit me that i was sick to the core of them throwing their bullisi*t beliefs at me like i was inferior or something.

Tough situations there.
Open mind, it sounds like you have given your method of operation a lot of thought and I wish you all the best with it. -

by digderidoo ini feel at the moment to keep posting on this site is doing me no good.
i used to post here many years ago and came across many things jw related that made me feel angry towards the way i was brought up.
in particular the 607 issue and the generation change.

Do you believe the story of Adam and Eve? Why or why not?
No, because it's a story.

If Eve was made from Adam's rib...
by changeling inwouldn't they have the same dna?
would that not make eve a clone of adam?
aren't clones by definition an exact replica of the original?

If the bible provided an answer to every minute detail, then it would be more like the former organization we left, I don't need to know everything about this life, all that is needed is the plan of salvation, how the animals were created by God, I don't really know, and in the full picture is imaterial.
Why is the plan of salvation needed, Junction-Guy?

From Wikipedia: "Some people are missing one of the two pairs of floating ribs, while others have a third pair."
You don't need to get into DNA to show that Adam and Eve is just a story. -

When the fog lifted - did you see the control tactics everywhere?
by AK - Jeff init took a while for me - but after some time i began to see most all religion as controlling entities, interested not only in forcing doctrine on adherents, but also, and perhaps primarily, seeking to control believers.
i initially saw this as somewhat benign, but have increasingly seen it as dangerous, even a malignant force in human social-evolution.
i see a far-right fundy church and it virtually screams "jwism" to me.

Yes, I did Jeff. And I felt very similarly to you about religion. I made myself go to a Catholic Christmas service, have been to another Catholic service and even went to a Kingdom Hall meeting away from my previous congregation to prove to myself that I could because I knew I needed to be able to deal with my disdain of organised religion. I still hope that one day the human race will admit that it just doesn't have all the answers and stop clinging to untrue beliefs.
As some months have passed, I now feel less resentment of religion as a whole but still feel very sorry that it has managed to pull the wool over peoples' eyes for so long.
